The Caged Bird Sings: A Fashion Show, YPR-San Francisco, CA

March 30 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

The fashion piece titled “The Caged Bird Sings” will serve as the art companion to the release of the collection, enhancing the multidimensional storytelling aspect of this creative endeavor. This piece is a fusion of fashion, music, art, and punk, set in post-COVID San Francisco. Following the performance there will be a Narcan workshop demonstrating the importance of Narcan also how to administrate it as well.

This new performance art Fashion show draws inspiration from one of the darkest periods of my life. The story is titled “The Caged Bird Sings.” The metaphor encapsulated in “The Caged Bird Sings” resonates with the idea that amidst adversity, maintaining belief in oneself, embracing individuality, rebellion, and ambition serve as the driving forces behind our expression. This allusion is rooted in Maya Angelou’s seminal work, “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings,” underscoring the resilience and strength derived from embracing one’s authentic essence. It’s worth noting that Maya Angelou, a prominent figure hailing from San Francisco, authored the book that serves as a significant reference point for this collection.
